30 Years of experience
I have been in the human services field for the past 30 years. I have spent the past 15 years traveling coast to coast teaching and consulting on mental health issues. During these years I have travelled from the Arctic Circle to Maine debating and discussing treatment issues with over 25,000 psychologists, counselors and prescribers in an effort to improve mental health services to those in need.
In addition, I have flown home every weekend to work as an assessment and referral specialist in the emergency departments of six hospitals conducting suicide assessments and formulating interventions for psychotic patients who represent a danger to themselves or others. Prior to my teaching career I spent over 20,000 hours with victims of violence helping them recover from the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder and developmental trauma. My travel schedule is now limited as I split my time between assessment and referral and private practice.
